Compared with the beginning of the 20th century, Cambodia's rice planting per unit area increased significantly, from about 2 tons / HA to more than 3.5 tons / HA in 2017, an increase of about 75%. However, compared with other countries in Indochina Peninsula, it is still at the lowest level. For example, compared with Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam in 2017, the yield is 7.9%, 16.7% and 36.4% lower than that of Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam respectively, It is close to half of China's rice yield, which is 22.9% lower than the world average grain yield (3.9 T / HA). The low rice yield level is affected by many factors including rice varieties, infrastructure, field planting management technology and so on. It can be seen that once the production conditions are improved, there is still much room for improvement in the per unit yield level.
