Myanmar is an agricultural based country, and the government has taken a number of measures to support and protect agricultural production. For example:

(1) Minimum protection price for domestic rice in Myanmar

In August 2011, the central executive committee of Myanmar rice Entrepreneurs Association decided to implement a minimum protection price for Myanmar's domestic rice, with a basket (21.6 kg) of basic protection price of 3250 kyat (about US $4). For the first time in Myanmar's more than 60 years of independence, the state has provided funds to protect the interests of farmers.

(2) Reduce loan interest and increase loan amount

In order to develop agriculture, the Agricultural Development Bank of Myanmar has reduced the interest rate of rural loans from 15% to 13% since January 1, 2012, and the loan amount has also increased from 20000 kyat per acre to 40000 kyat. At the same time, the interest of loans from Myanmar's national bank to other villages (about RMB 6.15-5.0 million) from the first half of 2012 to Myanmar's National Bank (about RMB 6.15-5.0 million) will be provided to Myanmar's national bank from 2012 to 2012.

(3) Implementation of small loan service

After the establishment of Myanmar's new government, it actively appealed to the international community to increase its micro loan assistance to Myanmar, and implemented a series of domestic policies and measures to actively develop the country's microfinance industry. As of August 9, 2013, Myanmar has approved 166 domestic and foreign institutions to operate microfinance business. Among them, there are 6 international NGOs, 13 domestic NGOs, 75 cooperatives, 5 foreign limited companies and 67 domestic limited companies. Microfinance business covers 650000 low-income people in 6200 villages in 160 townships in Myanmar.

(4) Agricultural tax exemption

In order to develop agriculture, Myanmar's Ministry of Finance and Taxation announced that from July 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013, the business tax on imported fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural tools, agricultural machinery, etc., and the domestic production and sales of the above materials will be exempted.
